Genetics - Why They Matter!

Each Ragdoll has its own genetics, and this helps create a healthy kitten or unfortunately in some cases (due to a bad mating/mix of genetics) a non-healthy kitten.

At Fluffyrags each and every cat used for breeding is DNA screened, we don’t only screen for the basic diseases and traits related to a Ragdoll, we screen for every possible test available for a cat.

Starting off with healthy parents provides you with the best genetics to create your future kitten, which will be healthy and free for preventable disease. Every kitten bred at Fluffyrags comes with a Health Guarantee.

Traditional Ragdoll Colour Point Restriction Trait is CsCs – This means your kitten carries the double Siamese gene.

Mink Ragdoll Colour Point Restriction Trait is CsCb – This means your kitten carries one Siamese point restriction and one Burmese point restriction.

Sepia Ragdoll Colour Point Restriction Trait is CbCb – This means your kitten carries the double Burmese point restriction.

Solid/ Self Coloured Ragdoll Colour Point Restriction Trait can be CCs, CCb or CC – This means your kitten carries one solid restriction (C) and then either one Siamese point restriction trait (Cs), one Burmese point restriction trait (Cb) or a double solid restriction trait (C).

The one trait we do not use at Fluffyrags is the CC trait, the reason for this is that the kittens will only carry the full solid trait (CC) which for us is too far breed out from the Ragdoll as you have lost the Siamese Point Restriction (Cs) or Burmese Point Restriction (Cb) trait in the kitten, which was put into the foundation cats to create the blue eyed Ragdoll. (This is personal preference only, there is nothing wrong with a pedigree CC Ragdoll).
